Position Summary

The Makerspace & Tech Lead will oversee daily operations of the Makerspace, mentor students and community members, and lead technical projects and workshops. This role is ideal for a hands-on, technologically versatile individual passionate about turning ideas into reality.The ideal candidate is bilingual in Spanish and English, highly organized, and experienced in guiding users with tools and technologies such as 3D printing, electronics, robotics, and digital design. They will create programs that promote digital equity, inclusion, and hands-on learning and more for students and the broader community.This role requires a proactive, collaborative professional who can maintain smooth operations, support creative exploration, and inspire learners to develop skills and experiment with technology in meaningful ways.

Key Responsibilities

Technology: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to students and community members on equipment and technologies such as 3D printing, CNC machining, electronics, robotics, and coding.Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure smooth operation of hardware and software resources. Foster an inclusive, innovative, and collaborative environment for makers of all skill levels.
Operations: Oversee daily operations and maintenance of the Makerspace, ensuring safety, accessibility, and a welcoming and clean  environment. Maintain inventory of tools, materials, and equipment; coordinate procurement and repairs as needed. Collaborate with the manager to plan and execute programs, operational improvements, and resource management. Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of metrics, including the number of people served through Makerspace programs and workshops.
Outreach: In collaboration with the manager, plan, organize, and lead workshops, training sessions, and community events that promote creativity, digital inclusion, and technical literacy. Develop and contribute to theme-specific workshops for youth, such as mental health, social justice, climate action, and other educational topics. Collaborate with internal teams, educators, and community partners to design programs supporting arts, education, small business, climate, justice, and digital equity.
Other:Participate in organization-wide community events and initiatives as needed.Other duties may be assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as STEM, Engineering, Education, Digital Media, or related disciplines. Proven experience working in a makerspace, fab lab, STEM lab, or similar technical/creative environment. Experience leading workshops, mentoring students or community members, and facilitating hands-on learning activities. Hands-on proficiency with fabrication tools, electronics, robotics, 3D printing, CNC machinery, and digital design technologies. Demonstrated ability to manage operations, maintain equipment, and track program metrics. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, electronics, robotics, and digital design tools. Familiarity with coding platforms (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Python) is a plus.
Instruction & Mentorship: Ability to teach, guide, and inspire students and community members of varying skill levels in a makerspace environment.
Operations & Organization: Highly organized with experience managing space operations, equipment maintenance, inventory tracking, and reporting metrics such as number of people served.
Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams, educators, community partners, and leadership.
Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Able to troubleshoot technical issues, adapt to new technologies, and respond to changing program or operational needs.

Bilingual Ability: Fluency in Spanish and English is highly preferred.

Compensation & Schedule

Hourly rate $25. 20 hours per week, Mon-Fri 2:00pm-6:00pm. This position does not offer vacation or benefits
