Events Manager
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Redmond, WA
Type: Full-Time | Non Exempt
Supervision: This position may supervise 1-2 project coordinators
Position Summary
The Events Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a variety of community-centered events, as well as improving how events are delivered over time. This role connects planning and execution to ensure organizational goals are reflected in well-run events that support community engagement and create meaningful impact.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, fast-paced, and detail-oriented professional with experience managing events ranging from small community activities to large-scale public festivals. They bring strong skills in program and operations management, budgeting, vendor coordination, and cross-functional collaboration, along with clear leadership in high-pressure environments. The ability to effectively delegate, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and maintain focus under tight timelines is essential. A strong commitment to community engagement, cultural relevance, and equity-driven programming is key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning & Execution
Plan, organize, and manage events across multiple scales, including:
Small-scale events (~15-75 attendees): Art exhibitions, workshops, and giveaways.
Medium-scale events (~200–400 attendees): Independence Day, Day of the Dead celebrations.
Large-scale events (~10,000+ attendees): Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Oversee all phases of event execution, from concept development through post-event evaluation.
Develop detailed timelines, run-of-show documents, and contingency plans to ensure seamless execution.
Coordinate event coverage and oversee on-site operations to ensure smooth delivery.
Develop, manage, and reconcile event budgets, ensuring alignment with funding restrictions.
Monitor expenses closely and make strategic decisions to stay within budget while maintaining quality.
Logistics
Oversee end-to-end event logistics including venue setup, equipment, staffing, and transportation.
Source, and manage relationships with vendors (e.g., catering, production, entertainment, rentals).
Coordinate with city, county, and relevant government agencies to secure required permits and approvals.
Ensure full compliance with local regulations, safety requirements, and licensing standards.
Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges in real time.
Marketing & Communications
Manage and oversee social media content, and scheduling.
Co-create press releases and promotional materials (e.g., flyers, posters) in partnership with leadership.
Coordinate media, photography, and videography (whenever needed) to amplify event visibility.
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience
Master’s degree in nonprofit management, education, social work, cultural studies, event management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
3–6+ years of experience in events management, program management, operations, community engagement, or nonprofit leadership.
Demonstrated success planning, implementing, and evaluating community-based programs or large-scale events.
Experience collaborating with senior leadership and contributing to event strategy and cross-functional coordination.
Proven experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and reporting for programs or events.
Skills & Competencies
Bilingual in Spanish and English (written and verbal) highly preferred.
Highly organized, fast-paced professional with strong ability to manage multiple priorities, drive execution, and meet deadlines.
Strong project management skills with the ability to balance strategic, big-picture thinking with close attention to detail.
Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills, with experience fostering collaboration across teams or departments.
Ability to communicate insights clearly and concisely.
Strategic, solutions-oriented thinker with a proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and project management tools (e.g., Asana or similar platforms).

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range $33 - $36 hourly depending on experience.
